Manchester City Centre and Online.

LGBTQIA+ affirmative counselling and psychotherapy, helping people to achieve healing, growth and authentic living.

I’m Seán (he/they) — a queer therapist offering down-to-earth, inclusive support for LGBTQIA+ folks and allies.

I specialise in working with gender, sexual, and relationship diversity (GSRD), and I offer a space where your identity and lived experience aren’t just accepted — they’re seen and understood. Whether you’re exploring something new, unpacking something old, or simply wanting to be fully yourself without having to explain, you’re welcome here.

Right now you might be feeling stuck, or questioning parts of yourself, or going through something that feels too hard to even put into words. You might be simply looking for a space where you don’t have to filter or shrink yourself — where you can just be.

I offer a calm, non-judgmental space to explore whatever's coming up for you. Together, we can make sense of things at your pace, in your own way.

Therapy shouldn't feel formal or detached. It should feel real, collaborative, and truly transformative.

ME

My journey into counselling and psychotherapy was shaped by my own queer lived experience. For many years, I grappled with finding internal acceptance and understanding my identity in a cis-heteronormative world. Through therapy, I was able to navigate my feelings and discover my own strength, acceptance, and peace.

I believe that everyone deserves a space where they can be their true selves without fear of judgment. My own experiences have taught me the importance of having someone to talk to who truly understands and accepts you. This is why I am passionate about providing a safe, affirming space for my clients.

“Queer people don't grow up as ourselves, we grow up playing a version of ourselves that sacrifices authenticity to minimise humiliation & prejudice. The massive task of our adult lives is to unpick which parts of ourselves are truly us & which parts we've created to protect us.” - Alexander Leon

MY APPROACH TO THERAPY

My approach to therapy has been shaped by my own lived experience.

I believe that each and every client is unique and will need different things from therapy. I aim to collaborate with each client, tailoring the approach to ensure that you get what you need from our sessions.

I am trained in the humanistic approach, which places the client at the centre of our work together. This approach is non-directive in nature, putting the client in control of the direction and pace of their therapy.

However, I recognise that some clients might feel they need something a little more guided by their therapist. At the start of therapy, I discuss with each client their wants and needs and together we work to agree an approach which suits.

I also touch upon other modalities in my work, including existential therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), with a further focus on social justice and anti-oppression.

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." - Carl Rogers

WHY THE "PINK TRIANGLE"?

The pink triangle is a powerful symbol that has been reclaimed by the LGBTQIA+ community. Originally used as a marker of oppression, it’s since been transformed into a symbol if resilience, defiance, pride and solidarity. While honouring the past, the name reflects the power we have as individuals and as a community to reclaim our identities and rewrite our narratives.
